A New Chapter for Toffa & Knotten: Embracing the Stillness

A Shift in Perspective

Life is full of changes, and recently I’ve been reflecting on how those changes are shaping Toffa and Knotten. Over the years, vanlife has brought me freedom, adventure, and inspiration. But as life has evolved, so has my approach to sharing these experiences. Now, it’s time for a shift in perspective—a return to my original vision for Toffa and Knotten.

When I first began, the focus was on photography, with vanlife as part of the story rather than the main feature. Along the way, especially during the 2023 trip with Kaddy, the focus shifted to vanlife and adventure. While that chapter was rewarding, it’s time to step back and embrace what drew me to this journey in the first place: the landscapes, the stories they tell, and the creative process of capturing them.

The Backstory: Change and Opportunity

Recent changes in my life have naturally influenced this shift. Kaddy and I are no longer a couple, which has brought adjustments to how I travel and share content. At the same time, I’ve been establishing Bekkrbua (the cabin) as a base—a significant change that has shifted my lifestyle to being semi-nomadic for the time being. Building this home base takes time and focus, leaving less opportunity for extended travels right now.

While vanlife will always be a part of what Toffa and Knotten is, this shift in perspective gives me the chance to reconnect with familiar landscapes and dive deeper into the creative process. Bekkrbua is an opportunity to recharge, plan trips, and reflect on the beauty I want to share.

Though I may not be on the road as often for now, the road is still part of my story. What’s changing is the balance—focusing more on the images and the inspiration behind them while still sharing the adventures that Knotten and I experience.

Looking Ahead: A Collaborative Shift in Perspective

With this new direction, I want to involve you, friends and follower, in the journey. Your support has been a constant source of encouragement, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you’d like to see going ahead. Are there aspects of photography you’re curious about? How I capture a scene, analogue photography, my editing approach, or what inspires me in a particular scene? It can also be the technical aspects of how to setup a van/camper for doing photography as a nomad/vanlifer, how put together a backup setup for photography vanlife edition, or what what camera bag to get for doing adventures. It’s all up to you.

This shift is about exploring together. Your ideas can inspire topics for me to share—perhaps a behind-the-scenes look at my creative process or stories about capturing Norway’s intimate landscapes. While I’ll still decide where Knotten and I roam, your input on photographic themes or creative topics we cover in the blog and Instagram posts would be invaluable.

A Shift in Perspective: Moving Forward Together

This new chapter is about balance—between the freedom of the road and the rootedness of having a home base to return to when needed. It’s a chance to reconnect with the heart of my photography and share that connection with you.

Thank you for being part of this evolving journey. I’m excited to hear your thoughts as we move forward together, embracing this shift in perspective and seeing where it leads.

Let’s shape this journey together! Share your ideas in the comments below or reach out directly on Instagram. What topics or aspects of photography would you like me to explore next? Your input can make this chapter even more inspiring.

Warm regards
Toffa and Ludde

Toffa and Knotten
Toffa and Knotten

Toffa Berg is a vanlifer and landscape photographer based in Norway. Travelling in a Laika X595R mobile home named Knotten, Toffa explores and documents the natural beauty of Norway, with a particular focus on woodlands, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, coastlines, and mountain landscapes. Avoiding cities, he seeks out quieter, less-populated areas to capture his imagery.

When not on the road, Toffa returns to Stavanger, his base for rest and preparation. Accompanied by his miniature schnauzer, Ludde, he shares his photography and experiences on the Toffa and Knotten website.
